40 years...

and my parents still seem to like each other...
At their wedding my Mom wore a sweet empire cut dress with a pink and lace vest (for the reception) and my Pop wore a ruffled powder blue shirt (with extra ruffles) and this swank plaid suit coat (bell bottomed pants were not saved for us posterity)...
Happy Anniversary (a month ago)!

More evidence of my Mom's awesomeness

I confess, I keep every letter I ever receive. I've kept notes passed to me in high school. I've kept misspelled Valentines from 2nd grade... so sue me. I also keep other random papers if I really like them, like this;

In college I got very sick and my mom flew out to take care of me, while recuperating we played hangman... only that stick figure guy is just too predictable... these are the more creative ways of killing stick figures with words.

I think this explains a good deal about me. Thanks for indulging me Mom.

Company

You take them places they’ll love,

You take them to things they wouldn’t do or see at home…
You try to show them a good time

While you know that really they’re just visiting you and would have done so if you lived in the bleakest most boring place on the Earth…

After exhausting days of living through someone else’s vacation and enjoying the rare treat of their company, they go home,
and it’s a little sad.

Happy Birthday Mom!

A poem I found for my momma;

My Treasure Chest is filled with gold
gold... gold... gold...
Vagabond's gold and drifter's gold...
worthless, priceless dreamer's gold...
gold of the sunset... gold of the dawn
gold of the shower trees on my lawn
poet's gold and artist's gold
gold that cannot be bought or sold...
Gold.

You were a really cute little kid (creepy how much my baby pics look like yours)...

Sending a b-day card soon... just trying to get my act together... so it will be a real surprise when it gets there.

I Love you.
