New Eyes
I am in love with my new camera... it seems like it can make anything look luscious.
Hello concrete wall, water pipe, safety pin bin...
I know, it's a little crazy.

John the Baptist and Banquo
At the theater, I finally got around to sorting through the boxes I had previously simply labeled "Dead Things". I carefully transported sad droopy carcasses from disintegrating boxes into new sturdy ones... Once in their new homes of rest the furs filled their boxes with sad glass eyes peering out at me. I'm sorry little creatures, I'm just in charge of keeping you stored here...

The *best* part about clearing out the old box is getting to the bottom and finding this;

... two sad disembodied heads about the size of a walnut. Such is the glamor of my life in costumes.

Painting the dank out of dark and dank
Well I'm not quite done with painting my work space, but since I'm not going to get that chance for another few weeks I thought I would at least post my progress for proof that my "dungeon" is looking more like a real room every day.
Before;
Bare drywall, bare wood, messy and dark

After;
Painted walls, painted shelves, less messy, better organized (trust me on this)
I don't think these pics fully show how much better the room feels to be in, but before I could only work in this room for about an hour before I'd had it and needed to get out. Now I can put in enough time to accomplish something.

Sigh! I love fresh paint.

What were you doing at 3am?
I was surfacing from a trance where in I sculpted this Dali mask. I got off of work at 1am, and had done about half of this work, but then spurned on by frustration and a touch of anger I was motivated to be productive and finish it all in one sitting... mind you I took on this project against my better judgement... I'm not getting paid enough to do fine craft work and I didn't run the manner of execution by the designer... I was just struck that this was a project I wanted to do because it looked like fun... basically even if it doesn't make it on stage I'll still be fine with that, but I love the result. Now we wait for it to dry and pray that it doesn't all fall apart...
Here is the original Salvador Dali photograph the mask is based on.

Here is the mask (drying and in progress)

a couple of detail shots...

feng-shui
A new Theater company to work for; The Aurora Theater, located next to Berkeley Rep...

... and this is my room.

It's dark and doesn't flow. The fitting space isn't convenient or big enough...

It really is the basement, but right now it FEELS like the basement...

So tomorrow I will be working on making it a more hospitable place to habitate.

I already bought a bunch of plastic storage bins and drawers for little things... so I'm actually pretty excited to be able to move everything around and make it all more beautiful. Hopefully an update will come later showing massive improvement.
