Half Moon Bay

 I went to Half Moon Bay for the first time ever... we found a hiking trail by Highway 1 that took us over the shore, through groves of trees and up a rather steep grade.

 Curls of grass, splashes of color, succulents and evergreens all graced the path.
Eric flew and Shaggy posed for his 80's band album cover.
By the time we descended it was only 3pm, but the marine layer had set in.

Hangar One

Last week my best friend came up and spent three days with me.  The wet chill of weather diverted us from our original plan to go hike in the redwoods.  Instead we went to a distillery on Alameda island.

  Just outside of the parking lot you can see the lot where the Mythbusters frequently destroy cars, and blow up buses.  I chose to keep my camera dry so you'll need to take my word on this.

Inside there is a small room that works as the gift shop and the booth where you can sign up for tasting their liquors. St.George distillers sells vodkas, brandy, Whiskey (a very American Bourbon), absinthe, liquors that included raspberry, a tea-bergamot (that was oddly fantastic), and pear.

There was a "tour" that basically walked us to all of two locations while a tour guide spoke very softly and I have no idea of what he said... it was at least free and interesting to take a gander at the interior.

Color on the BART

My friend Shaggy and I saw this lady on the BART, crazy embroidered and beaded tunic and all. Our favorite was the button hat.

We asked her why she was wearing such an outfit. Apparently she was going to a Nick Cave concert.

Got to love Berkeley.

November respit

Disclaimer; I solemly swear to try and stop with the half-assed blogs... must actually put interesting things up on the internet... must be insightful... after this one;

This I took a break (as most of you know)... I've been working solidly since May with few days off in the midst. It had been making me rather amazingly cranky. So last week I ran away.
I went to Catalina with my best friend;

I caught up with some friends from high school.
I had lunch with Sarah and Rosie, where I met many of Sarah's new family members (as in new since 2001) and Lisa (who I may have met before or perhaps only online. It all gets blurry...) I failed to document "When blogs collide" in a room of ten people (four of them under the age of six) seven of us were bloggers... and I don't think any of us took a photo.
although I got this one in the coffee shop later...

I pestered my sister.

Had early Thanksgiving with my family

played some pinball... swung on some ropes...

I took a hike on the Ernie Maxwell trail and all in all had a lovely week away from responsability

Company

You take them places they’ll love,

You take them to things they wouldn’t do or see at home…
You try to show them a good time

While you know that really they’re just visiting you and would have done so if you lived in the bleakest most boring place on the Earth…

After exhausting days of living through someone else’s vacation and enjoying the rare treat of their company, they go home,
and it’s a little sad.

Reason #416

Why Shaggy is my best friend:

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea,during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked "where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him" (Matthew 2:1-2)

They arrived with Darth Vader but low the Darth did not see him for he was stuck in a great black helmet and was deep in ponderance of the tragic disapointment Episodes 1 through 3 had been...(Hammel 12:5-6)

All we like sheep have gone astray... even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no At-At (Lucas 4:16)
